Sassa Old Age Grant
This grant is specifically designed for senior citizens of South Africa to provide financial relief in old age. It especially helps those elderly individuals who are financially struggling, offering them monthly pension support.
Senior citizens who are no longer able to work and are aged 60 or older can apply for this grant. They must not have any other significant source of income. This grant is further divided into two categories: individuals aged 60 to 74 receive R2,090 per month, while those who are 75 years and older receive R2,110 per month.

Eligibility Criteria For Sassa Old Age Grant
Only following people are eligible to take the grant
- The person must be a citizen of South Africa and resident within the country.
- Age must be greater than 60 years.
- Applicants must not take any other grant from the government or any other insurance company.
- In case of marriage it is important your spouse also meets the criteria.
- Applicants have to pass the sassa means test for taking the grant.
- You must not reside in a state institution.
Documents Required for Applying an Sassa Old Age Grant
- ID Document.
- ID Document of spouse (if married).
- Proof of permanent resident of South Africa.
- Proof of your income.
- Income of your spouse too (if married).
- Assets proof including property you own.
- Dependent child proof income (if any).
- 3 months bank statement.

What is the Means Test for Sassa Old Age Grant?

Income Threshold
- R 96,840 annual income of a single person must not exceed that.
- R 193,680 annual income of the couple (including spouse earnings) must not exceed that.
Assets Threshold
- R 1,372,800 value of assets of a single person must not exceed that.
- R 2,745,600 value of assets of a couple in case of marriage must not exceed that.
